Guided by this philosophy, every employee, from senior management onward, commits to continuously support sustainable development by fostering healthy stakeholder relationships and addressing environmental and social challenges. Corporate Governance Aligned with our philosophy of contributing to the world through carbon, we have established a robust internal control system and promote compliant, healthy corporate practices to sustain our growth as a global group. Every Toyo Tanso employee receives our Behavioral Standards, outlining action guidelines, and a Compliance Guidebook that details the applicable laws and regulations. Through educational initiatives, we have extended this policy to affiliates in Japan and abroad, ensuring consistent awareness throughout the group. We have established a Risk and Compliance Committee and address issues through interdepartmental coordination. Employment and Workplace Environment We strive to create workplaces that deliver job satisfaction and support the mental and physical well‑being of every employee. Respecting basic human rights and guaranteeing fair, discrimination‑free employment, we provide company regulations and a comprehensive support system, including a dedicated help desk. We have fully implemented occupational safety and health measures and established an advisory committee to prevent industrial accidents. In 2010, we created a department dedicated to work–life balance and continue to enhance workplace satisfaction, for example by offering annual factory tours for employees’ families and earning the Next-generation Certification Mark (also known as the “Kurumin Mark”). Quality and Product Safety All our Japanese production bases are certified to ISO 9001, and we pursue quality improvement through continuous activities spanning design, development, production, sales, and service. Our guiding theme prioritizes customer‑satisfaction improvement, enabling us to produce truly unique products and uphold the highest quality standards. Environment We conduct corporate activities that protect the environment, fostering coexistence and harmony among humanity, carbon, and nature. Our carbon products help prevent global warming and preserve the environment by delivering clean energy, enhancing energy efficiency, and supporting recycling. We focus on the environment and energy sectors, where our products and technologies play active roles. We actively reduce waste, strictly manage environmental pollutants in line with laws and regulations, and improve energy efficiency and labor savings in our manufacturing processes. Consequently, in December 2016 we earned ISO 14001: 2015 certification, and we will continue to proactively pursue environmental conservation. Community Participation and Development In Kagawa Prefecture, home to four Toyo Tanso factories and an affiliated company, we actively support regional development and community coexistence by: Fighting fires and participating in relief efforts in the event of a natural disaster through involvement with local fire brigades. Participating in community clean‑up activities. Sponsoring and proactively participating in festivals, community events, and sporting events to support regional development activities. Employee Development and Academic Promotion Toyo Tanso supports the Kondo Memorial Foundation, a public‑interest foundation primarily funded by Toyo Tanso stock. Founded at the request of our late founder Teruhisa Kondo, the foundation advances social development via its scholarship program and supports academic research through its research‑grant program.
